Dan Stevenson
Dan has been a farmer literally all his life. He moved to Pleasant Valley Farm in 1990 with his family when they left the Chambersburg area. The farm started off raising Jersey cows and milking them. Dan was a part of the farm as it transitioned into a diversified farm, selling produce and raising meat animals. Dan loves working the horses and has helped train many over the years.
Dan loves working with his hands and always has projects going around the farm. He is a blacksmith and creates metal items using a coal fire, an anvil, and old-time methods.
Dan's hobbies and interests are: learning new things; backpacking, hiking, canoeing & just being outdoors; mushroom hunting; and old country music, especially if he can listen to it on vinyl or 8-track.

Emily Stevenson
Emily was raised in Tionesta and grew up participating in the Forest County 4-H program with her horse, Sara. After high school, she moved to Pittsburgh to attend the University of Pittsburgh, but returned home after completing her Master's degree in Social Work.
After meeting Dan, Emily became very interested in the farm, the animals and the plants. Marrying Dan cemented her new role as part of the farm family. When her family literacy job was downsized, she gladly became a full-time farmer. Emily is proud of her success in learning to produce food and loves coming up with new varieties of jams, salsas and other homemade goodies.
Emily is passionate about educating the public about local, organic food, why family farms are vital, and about the wonderful varieties of heritage breed livestock and heirloom plants that are in danger of extinction. She also speaks semi-regularly for groups, including at the Farm to Table Pittsburgh Conference, United Way & Lion's Club events, and the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy National Convention. Please call or email if you are interested in one of her presentations for your group or event!
Emily loves reading, cooking and learning new things. She also is a big fan of outdoor adventures with Dan, and learning more about the local environment, enjoys painting, drawing, sewing, making jewelry, and using medicinal plants and essential oils.
